| Geckos chasing each other's tails form a circle that symbolizes renewal or rebirth and usually adorns Indonesian outdoor homes. Diana Dewi designs this pule wood sculpture adorned with florid artistry using batik canting techniques. The gecko on the bottom is adorned with the kirno monda (The Best One), usually reserved for home décor. The gecko on the top is adorned with the legendary kawung pattern, inspired by the aren-palm fruit, and said to represent the universal energy source. Batik techniques are applied by hand which may result in slight differences in color hues and motif placement. |
