A young boy's face appears at one end of this unusual vessel. When water is introduced into the basin and permitted to flow back and forth, the piece whistles in a high, keening tone much like a crying child. Handcrafted by Georgina Cabrera, the ceramic instrument replicates a piece discovered in the Templo Mayor beneath present-day Mexico City. The original comes from the Teotihuacan-Aztec culture.
