June 29 commemorates the martyrdom in Rome of Jesus' disciples Peter and Paul of Tarsus, the evangelist. The Montalvo Family artisans depict the saints' entry into heaven where an angel presents both early Christians with golden crowns. Sculpted in cedar wood, the relief panel is hand painted with oil colors and receives applications of gleaming bronze leaf. A metal hook at the back facilitates hanging.
