Weaving pine needles with admirable dexterity, the women of Komon Utzil craft a beautiful basket. They use pine needles collected from nearby areas in the Sololá region of Guatemala. They preserve the needles' natural hue, and dye others in garnet and blue gray tones creating a harmonious contrast. The bowl is sewn together by hand with raffia.
