The love that the Ga people from Ghana have for their children is dutifully expressed in their colorful artistry. Robert Nortey hand-carves a sese wood replica of the Aban mask, which he decorates with ornate brass plates. Aban is the name given to either a boy or a girl whose birth follows after twins. For the Ga people, this means the Lord has truly honored and blessed a family. During the Abankpey (Aban's day) festivities, this mask is given to all Abans to hold during the ceremonies.
