The Ashanti people ruled most of West Africa before European colonization, and now they are one of the most influential people in Ghana. Ashanti artists enjoy incorporating various styles into their designs and so it is that Robert Aidoo-Taylor designs this fascinating wall sculpture. This way of depicting an Ashanti person is how our ancestors used to represent a person, with a big round head, explains Aidoo-Taylor. He carves the wall sculpture of natural ceiba wood featuring a round head and dresses the lean body with jute twine and kente cloth.
