Their feathers suggesting a heart, two birds represent love in Abdul Salami Amadu's original design. He carves the large sese wood mask by hand, masterfully detailing the male and female birds on the forehead. The mask's florid cheeks are embossed in aluminum. Amadu calls his design Odo pa, which means Good Love in the Twi dialect of the Akan people of Ghana.
