Music is everything to composer Sebastian Dubrok - until two women enter his life: the spirited. penniless single mother who stirs his conscience, and his brother’s beautiful fiancee, who captures his heart. Screen swashbuckler Errol Flynn takes a change-of- pace role as Sebastian in Escape Me Never, set in 1900 Italy and rich in emotion and glorious music. Flynn and Ida Lupino, who plays the young mother, provide most of the emotion. Longtime off-screen friends, the two stars let their affection for each other shine through in their performances. The music, including a dramatic ballet sequence, is by Erich Wolfgang Korngold, one of classic Hollywood’s premier composers, who had earlier provided memorable scores for Flynns The Adventures of Robin Hood and The Sea Hawk. Costars Gig Young and Eleanor Parker add depth to the tale of love and commitment, and Peter Godfrey (who helmed Flynn’s Cry Wolf) directs.
