Adorned with African aesthetics, this djembe drum lures with the beat of festivity. Favored by the Ewe people of Ghana, the djembe marks joyous occasions such as naming ceremonies, harvest times and dances. I was able to cut the tree for this drum from my own farm – carving it, I did not think of anything other than putting a smile on people's faces. I called this drum xorlali, which translates from the Ewe language as 'true is the redeemer, confides Peter Kwasi Agudze. Agudze handcrafts this drum from tweneboa wood, which he adorns with elegant and minimalist patterns. The goatskin drumhead is held taught with iron rings and batik cloth to avoid rusting.
