Reserved for joyous celebrations, the tamasa stick-drum emits a discreet beat as the ceramic pellets crash against the drumhead. Benito Tito crafts these drums from goatskin and tornillo wood. The drumheads are secured unto plastic rims, which Tito covers up with colorfully embroidered Huancane ribbons. The larger of the drums honors Inti, the Inca sun god. The small one features an ant fashioned after Inca glyphs. To play, just spin the stick between two hands. Please note the Huancane ribbons are completely hand-woven, there could be a slight variation in patterns or color. 100% synthetic fibers.
