Painting with acrylics on jute, David Mawunya Charway explores abstraction to convey his observations on cultural influence. Below are the images of two people standing who have to let go of cultures and tradition that do not help to move them forward and feel free, explains the Ghanaian artist. Above them are symbols of people who are finding it difficult to let go. I believe there are things we should be holding on to, and there are things we should let go. Africans find it difficult to let go of certain traditions and embrace new good ones, which would help us to move on.
