Mary is garbed in splendid brocades; as the queen of heaven, she stands on the crescent moon. Little Jesus is equally splendid in silk and lace. Both wear crowns as the Virgin offers her child a stem of lilies, a symbol of purity in Christian iconography. Beautifully depicted in oils, this Madonna comes from Edgar Aguirre Gómez. It is a replica of a portrait of Our Lady of the Rosary, recently restored in the city of Cuzco. Titled Virgen MarÃa ofreciendo flores al niño in Spanish.
