This oil on canvas by Edgar Aguirre Gómez represents the popular saint of Spain, arisen from his grave to help the Spanish army against the Moors in the battle of Clavijo. It is painted in the magnificent style of the Cuzco School, reminiscent of the Renaissance painters of religious scenes. Cuzco School works are replicas of famous colonial paintings found in the churches and convents of Cuzco.
