Bright Dankyi Mensah honors millenary traditions with a painting rich in symbolic meaning. Painting with acrylics, he creates a patchwork background revealing Akuaba fertility dolls. According to Ashanti customs, the doll can be given as a wedding gift to ensure the couple will have children, or else it is made by the woman who has not been able to conceive and looked after as if it were alive. Once she has conceived and delivered, the doll may become the child's first toy. Mensah further includes Adinkrahene, the most important of the Adinkra symbols, depicted as a circle. It stands for greatness, charisma and leadership.
