Colonial homes sit along a cobblestone lane washed by rain, its puddles reflecting the small but stately houses. In the distance, a volcano raises majestically like a sentinel above Antigua, Guatemala. The cobblestone lane leads to the church of San Francisco. This is is one of my favorite churches in Antigua, Bonifacio Maxia Cutzal confides. Working in oil on canvas, he depicts the scene with sepia overtones, creating a sensation of nostalgia. Titled San Francisco en Sepia in Spanish.
