I always strive to include a Guatemalan touch in my designs, says Lorena Figueroa as she introduces these elegant cushion covers. The blue and white jaspe sections are recycled from traditional cotton skirts and are not meant to be identical. In the same way, one adorns the top of the covers, and the other adorns the bottom. They are underscored by a white-blue counterpart separated by colorful pompoms. Figueroa calls her design Tocola Xela in honor of the two villages where she obtained the materials. Figueroa's designs depend on the availability of the material, which tends to be recycled from traditional costumes.
