Working on a backstrap loom, members of the Kaqchikel Women's Group perpetuate a weaving legacy handed down over generations. The skilled artisans transform cotton into a set of four placemats, accentuating bright yellow with strands of green, red, white and brown. We named this design Q'ij, which means 'sun' in the Kaqchikel language. That bright star inspires us — brilliant, attractive and filled with energy, they explain. Four solid green napkins complete the set.
