We craft these coasters by hand with ch'um (muhly grass) which we collect from the forests. Our environment is very important to us, so this way we are protecting it by not cutting down trees. And this work allows us to provide for our families, say the Kaqchikel Women's Group. They weave each of the four coasters by hand, masterfully decorating the center with yellow, red, white, black, blue, and green cotton.
