Working on a backstrap loom, members of the Kaqchikel Women's Group perpetuate a weaving legacy handed down over generations. The skilled artisans transform cotton into a set of four placemats in black and white, red and green along with several shades of brown and yellow. We named this design Chu'mil, which means 'star' in the Kaqchikel language. Starlight in the night sky above our fields inspires us, they explain. Four solid white napkins complete the set.
